On 18th March 1965, Alexey Leonov became the fist person to walk in space. The cosmonaut left his spacecraft Voskhod 2 for 12 minutes. The first woman to perform the space walk was also from Soviet Union. Svetlana Savitskaya performed her space walk on 25th July 1984.
