John Astor formed the Pacific Fur Company on 23rd June 1810. The German-descent American later became the first multi-millionaire in the US.
Astor was a astute businessman. When the fur trade declined, he got out of it and invested real estate in New York City. Astor also the creator of the first trust in the United States.
