On 4th June 1784, Élisabeth Thible becomes the first woman to fly on a hot air balloon. The flight took place exactly a year after the Montgolfier brothers had publicly demonstrated their montgolfière (hot air balloon).
Élisabeth Thible reached an altitude of 1.5 kilometres and travelled close to 4 kilometres. The flight lasted 45 minutes.
