Dolly the sheep, the first cloned mammal, was born on 5th July 1996.
Dolly was a female domestic sheep and was cloned by Sir Ian Wilmut and his team at the Roslin Institute. The project was funded by PPL Therapeutics, a biotechnology company in Edinburgh and the Ministry of Agriculture.
