The first aerial circumnavigation was completed on 28th September 1924. A team of aviators of the United States Army Air Service accomplished the feat in 175 days. The flight around the globe took them 175 days, covering a total of 44,342 kilometres.
The second circumnavigation was completed by the great Australian aviator, Charles Kingsford Smith, who also completed the first trans-Pacific flight from Oakland, California to Brisbane, Australia.
