First American woman to perform space walk

On 11th October 1984, Kathryn D. Sullivan became the first American woman to perform the space walk. She was aboard the Space Shuttle Challenger.

The first woman to perform a space walk was Svetlana Savitskaya of the Soviet Union on 25th July 1984. Astronaut Ed White of the Gemini 4 crew was the first U.S. citizen.
