Why I can’t insert emoticons anymore? For few days already, when I compose or reply to e-mails, the emoticons options bar is not available and also the font is Courier instead of Arial, which used to be by default. Any ideas?

The reason why your Yahoo! account has stopped showing emoticons and has started to display text in the Courier font is because you have (probably accidentally) shifted to composing messages in plain text format. You can reverse this action with just one mouse click.

Plain and Rich text formatting in Yahoo!
Yahoo! Mail, like other popular email services, lets you compose messages in two formats – Plain and Rich text. So what’s the difference?
Plain text messages are devoid of formatting. This means text cannot be colored or stylized and no Yahoo stationery or background image can be applied; for instance, the Yahoo email signature will be stripped of any image it contains. Also, the default mono-space font Courier is used for plain text email format.
Rich formatting lets you compose Yahoo email with colors and images and a variety of fonts are placed at your disposal. Also, adding stationery is also just one click away.
How to get back the emoticons and the Yahoo email toolbar
Simply click on the “Rich Text” link to the right of the “Subject” field; the screenshot below is from the All-new Yahoo! Mail version. The Yahoo email toolbar with the emoticons will immediately be displayed.
However, any formatting that you had applied to the message would be lost. For instance, if you had accidentally clicked “Plain text” and then on the “OK” button in the pop-up, all the embellishments will be removed and won’t come back even when you return to Rich formatting.
Conclusion: Emoticons, colors, images and fancy text formatting is available on Yahoo! Mail only in Rick Text mail composition mode.

This is probably an old issue because the “Rich Text” option is no longer available on the recent version of the Yahoo mail now. I used to be able to format and add emoticons up to about three weeks ago but not anymore,
