English scientist Michael Faraday discovered electromagnetic induction on 29th August 1831. He found that a magnetic field is created around a conductor when direct electric current is passed through it.
Faraday, though not formally educated, also discovered the laws of electrolysis, the principles of diamagnetism and developed the technology for the electric motor.
