On 27th January 1880, Thomas Edison received the patent for the incandescent lamp. The inventor had tested his electric bulb a few months back.
However, Edison did not invent the light bulb. The credit for this goes to Joseph Swan, a British physicist. Sawn used them to light up his home as the the Savoy Theatre in London.
