Connection closed by remote server – Yahoo mail

I can’t access my email which is on Yahoo! Mail. When I launch the address it will display something like Connection closed by a remote server. I am not sure what is wrong. It started happening a lot the last few days; before I could check Yahoo mail without problems.

There can be any number of reasons why the browser is frequently showing a “Connection closed by remote server” error message. Here is a quick rundown of troubleshooting tips should iron out the problem.

• Are you working on an active internet connection?
  To check this, fire up your browser and try opening some other popular web sites like google.com or facebook.com.
• Patchy internet access
  It’s possible that because of some kind of disturbance in the line, the internet access is not ‘smooth’. This may be the root of all your problems if you get the ‘connection closed by remote server‘ message when checking other web sites and not just Yahoo Mail. Contact the ISP and they will rectify the issue by either laying a new line or fixing the present one.
• Wireless router misbehaving
  I know this from personal experience. I had this nice wireless router which worked for a couple of years without any problem. They one fine day, it just wouldn’t do it’s job properly. It would occasionally switch off or restart which meant I was without an active net connection.
• Anti-virus or firewall blocking browser functionality?
  Another common cause is interference by other programs such as anti-virus software or a firewall.
• Faulty browser?
  There are tons of web browsers and it’s not a requirement to use the one that came with your computer. Testing with Firefox or, better still, Chrome may give you a different perspective to the problem. You can always uninstall these browsers if you don’t like them.
