American cartoonist and author famous for his comic strip Calvin and Hobbes. The strip became extremely popular being syndicated to close to 2,400 newspapers. In book form, the strip sold more than 45 million copies.
On 16th July 2010, the United States Postal Service released a set of stamps to honour Calvin and Hobbes.

At a later time, Tim Berners-Lee, the inventor of the World Wide Web, remarked that he should have used slashes throughout the URL instead of dots (period signs) in the domain name.
