Home / Events on 30 June / Asteroid Day
Asteroid Day was created by Grigorij Richters (director of the film 51 Degrees North) and Dr. Brian May (astrophysicist and guitarist of the famous rock band Queen). It is observed on 30 June each year.
The day is held on the anniversary of the Tunguska event which took place in 1908. It is the largest asteroid impact on Earth in modern history.
The day is meant to raise awareness about asteroids and how we can protect our families and communities. More information can be found at the Asteroid Day official web site.
