Italian inventor known for developing an apparatus that allowed voice-communication (telephone). Though he submitted a patent caveat for his device, he didn’t mention electromagnetic transmission of vocal sound in it. Alexander Graham Bell was granted a patent for it later. However, in 2002, the US Congress recognised Meucci as the inventor of the telephone.
