Antonie van Leeuwenhoek writes letter describing animalcules

Antonie van Leeuwenhoek wrote a letter to the Royal Society describing his discovery of “animalcules” on 17^th September 1683. The Dutch scientist had made several improvements to the microscope technology, especially developing powerful lenses. Leeuwenhoek is regarded as the Father of Microbiology and is universally credited as the first microbiologist.
