Web page titles – The HTML TITLE tag

Web page titles - The HTML TITLE tag

Titles of your pages are very important and here are some of the reasons.

  • Titles help search engines index your site.
  • Assist visitors in knowing where they are on your site.
  • Used in Bookmarks/Favorites
  • Used to display a short description of your site in search engines results.

So always pay special attention to page titles. Never let them play a second fiddle to page content. Rather, when making a web page, try to frame its contents in a single phrase. Then put this phrase as the title.

Some developers leave out the title completely and their page shows up with an Undefined title. How horrible and unprofessional?

Remember you too can make the web a better place!
