Flash animation tutorial - Fade and motion tween together

The best part about Flash is that it lets you combine two effects. So if you want to fade-out an object while simultaneously moving it from one place to another, you can do this using the same motion tween.

Step 1

Open a new file and change the layer name to fade and motion. Create a small green colored square in the first frame. Convert this square to a symbol. (Note: The Behavior has to be set to Graphic).
Drag this newly created symbol near the top-left corner.

Step 2

Add a keyframe at frame 20. (In order to add a keyframe, right-click with your mouse on that frame and select Insert Keyframe from the menu).

Step 3

With frame 20 highlighted, drag the square symbol to the top-right corner.

Step 4

Now add a Motion Tween by right-clicking on one of the middle frames and selecting Create Motion Tween from the menu.
Play the movie to see how it looks.
You'll see that the square just moves from left to right.

Step 5

Stop the movie if its playing and highlight frame 20.
Select the square symbol in this frame and click Modify - Instance.
In the Instance Properties window, color effect tab, change the Alpha value to 0%.
Your final result should look something like:

Click to view motion and fde effect for one object using Flash animation techniques and its motion tween function
