Transparent text on images

(PSP Version 5 and above)

Creating Transparent text is very simple. Let's pick up a good picture. Here is Drew Barrymore from a print advertisement of Guess!

Drew Barrymore - Guess!

Step 1
Click on the Text tool PSP Text tool and select a thick font. I use Arial Black, size 44. Also, in the Add Text window, uncheck the Floating check box.

Step 2
Click right in the middle of the image somewhere near the top. You'll notice that the text is transparent with only the selection marquee.

Step 3
Now to embellish the selection.
I apply a drop shadow to the text (Image - Effects - Drop Shadow) with the following values:

Color: Black
Opacity: 100
Blur: 17
Offset - Vertical: 0
Offset - Horizontal: 0

Here is the image with the transparent text:

Other effects for the transparent text
You can use the cutout filter to give an embossing effect to the text as in

Cutout efect

Or you can use other colors for drop shadow.
