Creating mirror effect in Paint Shop Pro

(PSP Version 5 and above)

In this tip we'll learn how to create a beautiful mirror effect on some text.

Mirror Effect

Step 1
Open a new 200X100 pixel white background RGB image.

Step 2
Select a good thick font; I've used Arial Black in 48 point size. Change the foreground color to deep blue (R=0, G=0, B=128 or #000080). Add a new layer to the image and using the Text tool PSP Text tool, put some text on this layer. Place this text at the top of the image.

Step 3
Add another layer. Choose white as the foreground color (R=255, G=255, B=255 or #FFFFFF) and the same deep blue (R=0, G=0, B=128 or #000080) as the background color.

Step 4
Click on the text tool PSP Text tool and put the same text on the image. Do not deselect this text since we will not fill the selected area with a linear gradient.

Step 5
Click on the gradient tool and select Linear Gradient with 180 degrees. Fill the selected text with this gradient. Now deselect the text.

Step 6
Select Image - Flip from the menu and place the inverted text just below the original text.

Step 7
Now decrease the opacity of the top most layer (the one that contains the gradient filled text) to 40.

Step 8
Click on the deformation tool PSP Deformation tool and decrease the height of the gradient filled text to half of its original value.

Step 9
After apply this deformation on the image, your final result should resemble the image below.
