Put image in AOL email signature - business logo, photo or avatar

The email signature formatting toolbar at AOL has no option of including a picture (refer figure below). But there is an easy way put an image directly in the AOL email signature. You can have your business / company logo, an avatar or even your photo included in each email message you send from the account.

AOL email signature toolbar - no direct option to put an image inside the signature

The only requirement is to have the image file online. This should not be a problem for professionals who already have a business web site up and running (assuming, of course, the logo appears on the site... why wouldn't it?). For those who find themselves in the dark, I suggest creating a Yahoo photo album on Flickr (refer that link for details) and uploading the image they want to put in the AOL email signature. By the way, you can use any image hosting service, though I've tried this only with Flickr.

Note: Please understand that the image in your AOL email signature will not appear if the server is down / offline. So I strongly recommend that you pick a reliable hosting service.

How to include an image (business logo) in the AOL email signature

As an example, I shall be showing you how to put your business / company logo in the AOL email signature - chances are that this image is already on your company web site.

Once the image is online on a server (company web site or an image host such as Flickr), all that's required is to employ the copy and paste commands to get it inside the email signature. Also, you can put multiple images in the AOL email signature. However, don't overdo it - the recipients might not take it kindly; a single business logo or an avatar will look pretty nice and slick!

The steps below have been performed in the Chrome web browser running Windows 7 computer.

If you are seeing this text, you need to install the Flash player and turn JavaScript on in your browser.

  • Go to the AOL email signature section: "Settings" -> "Compose" [Slide 1].
  • Open your company web site in another browser window / tab. Right-click on the company logo image and select "Copy image" from the menu [Slide 2]. If you're using a different web browser, please choose an equivalent option.
  • Return to the AOL page, right-click in the email signature box and select "Paste [Slide 3].
  • The business logo image will immediately be put in the AOL email signature [Slide 4].
  • For those using Flickr, follow the exact same steps. Right-click on image to copy [Slide 5] and then move to the email signature text box at AOL and paste it [Slides 6 and 7].
  • As you can see from the screenshot, I've been able to include two images in the AOL email signature each from a different source - one is my Flickr account and the other, this web site - [Slide 8]. You can now type the text contents in the box.
  • Slide 9 shows how the email signature looks in a blank email form.

As you can gather, apart from uploading the image to a server, the process of putting an image in the AOL email signature is quite simple and should take you not more than a minute!
