25 March is the birthday for Internet Wiki web sites. It was on this day in 1995 that Ward Cunningham launched the world’s first Wiki web site – WikiWikiWeb. The site was so named after the wiki-wiki shuttle which Ward was told to take at the Hawaii airport.
Ward had spent a year developing the software for the site and posted it on his company servers at the c2.com domain name. The American programmer is known for his contributions in design patterns and extreme programming.

The Cunningham Law is named after him based on his idea – “The best way to get the right answer on the Internet is not to ask a question, it’s to post the wrong answer.”
