Corel image editing programs - CorelDraw, Photopaint and Kai Power Tools

Corel became famous with their flagship product, CorelDraw, which is a vector based program more for desktop publishing than for graphics manipulation. The latest releases of CorelDraw have many features for web graphics but it's mostly still regarded (and used) as a desktop publishing software.

PhotoPaint directly competes with Adobe PhotoShop. It has similar functions and usefulness. Most third part filters for PhotoShop are also available for PhotoPaint. However, the market penetration of this software is kind of low as compared to PhotoShop though it also has a awesome array of filters.

Corel makes various products; even operating systems. The Corel Linux is Corel's venture into the world of Unix/Linux. Corel even gave PhotoPaint free with their Linux operating system. This was not a bad bet but Linux users have been working on the GIMP (completely free and used with GNOME) for quite some time and the penetration of PhotoPaint might take longer than expected.

KTP (Kai Power Tools) was previously sold by MetaCreations. The software was bought by Corel. It's the most famous set of plugins for PhotoShop. The plugins can also be used with PhotoPaint and provide the designer with powerful editing and manipulation features.
