Francis Crick died on 28 July, 2004

British biophysicist and molecular biologist who with James Watson discovered the double-helical structure of DNA (Deoxyribonucleic acid) by analysing the X-ray diffraction pattern produced by the macromolecule. For this work, the two scientists along with Maurice Wilkins received the 1962 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. Crick is also famous for having come up with the "central dogma", an idea which explains the flow of genetic information in cells from DNA to RNA to protein.
