Cannot open Hotmail email account?
Posted on March 17, 2010 under Hotmail | 9 Comments
I’ve been having a horrendous time lately. I cannot open my Hotmail email and have tried all what I know. The password is correct and but the page doesn’t show up with my emails.
Jesse Campbell
No success with Hotmail sign up. I am told that the password is incorrect and I have to type it again. This is very frustrating because I need to open some really important emails on this Hotmail account.
Ditrapani Franco
Ever since my son was here on holidays, I cannot open my Hotmail because I see only his emails. Earlier, I used to click on the icon and my emails would come up. What is going on? Where have my emails gone? I hope they haven’t vanished because I had some really important stuff there.
Paul Acquah
These are just some of the feedback I’ve received from Hotmail subscribers. As you may have gathered, there can be any number of reasons why you cannot cannot open a Hotmail email account. The first step, therefore, is to identify the problem correctly. Is the sign up page not loading? Are you getting a password incorrect error message? Or as the last of the feedbacks shows, another person’s email account loads instead of yours?

Charter email login
Posted on March 17, 2010 under Email, ISP | Leave a comment
I got an internet connection from Charter communication recently. I was told that I get an email address too. How can I use this Charter email login on my new computer? I like to know the different options I have and which one is better?
Buddy Windham
Most email accounts can be accessed in two ways – through a web browser or an email client. The first option is definitely simpler because no additional software is required – all programs you need already exist on your computer. The other option requires you to configure the account using Charter incoming and outgoing servers; refer how to set up Charter.net email on Windows 7: Windows Live Mail client. This will download email to your computer so that it’s accessible even without an active internet connection.

Web site control and ownership
Posted on March 17, 2010 under Internet Tips, Web Development | 2 Comments
I have a domain name and a working website on free hosting at the moment. I intend to upgrade to a better form of hosting. However, the problem I have is a breakdown in communication with the person who put my site for me. He seems to be able to tweak and change things as and when I want him to, although can leave me waiting. And for this reason I want to take control of my business and site, so to speak. However, he hasn’t been very forthcoming and I don’t know what to do. I have feeling he doesn’t want to hand over web site control! I really want the web site control and ownership – can this be done? And would I be able to do changes and tweaks etc. once I have upgraded hosting and maybe purchase a web package?
A. H.
A professional ‘web site‘ consists of a domain name, the web hosting account and the actual web site files (web pages and other multimedia files). The ownership and the control of these can lie with different individuals. Once you consider these three ‘segments’ as individual entities, understanding web site control and ownership becomes easy to explain and to grasp.

Sky incoming and outgoing email server
Posted on March 17, 2010 under Email, ISP | 2 Comments
I know it is possible to get Sky emails on your computer using Outlook Express. But I don’t have this program on my new Windows 7 laptop. Do I still need Sky incoming and outgoing email servers to receive the messages to my machine? There is a program called Windows Live Mail, will it help me?
Willie Thornton
A Sky email account can be set up in any email client that uses the Post Office Protocol (POP3). All the free Windows default email programs support this email protocol which means you would be able to download email from your Sky account and store them on your computer without the need of additional software.

Sky email login
Posted on March 17, 2010 under Email, ISP | 3 Comments
All Sky customers can avail the free Sky email service with 10 GB of storage space, more than enough for tens of thousands of text messages. This email account can be accessed in two ways. You can either use the Sky email login via a web browser (webmail interface) or download and store messages on your computer with dedicated email program like Outlook Express. Each method has its own merits and your choice depends how you would like to access and maintain the Sky email account.

Windows 7 browser program
Posted on March 16, 2010 under Internet Tips, Windows 7 | 1 Comment
A good friend of mine advised that I should have Firefox as the Windows 7 browser. But I am kind of used to Internet Explorer. Are there any major advantages in shifting to a different program?
Jonathan Calecas
Jonathan, I’d like to give you unbiased advice but that’s really difficult because nothing in this world is subjective! Anyway, it’s fine to use Internet Explorer as the Windows 7 browser because more than half the world employs this program to surf the web – check the web browser statistics.
Having said that, your friend is not entirely wrong and his advice holds a good bit of value.

How to take a screenshot of the iPhone
Posted on March 16, 2010 under iPhone | 4 Comments
Many people have asked me how I take the screenshot of what’s being displayed on the iPhone. I’m surprised that so many users don’t know this because it’s so simple. Anyway, you don’t need to install additional application for this job because it can be done with a very simple key combination and this is how it works.

Get iPhone ringtones for free: Any song!
Posted on March 16, 2010 under iPhone | Leave a comment
I’m pretty fond of my iPhone which I have owned for more than two years. My boys are crazy about it and have a ball playing the wonderful (and free/cheap, let’s not forget ‘money’) games and watching YouTube videos. getting a ringtone of choice on the iPhone for free (and legally) has always been quite a pain unlike my other mobile, Nokia 63i, in which one can set any song in the device as the ringtone.
Luckily I’ve been able to locate a stupendous resource (described below), with which you would be able to get iPhone ringtone from any song you like!

Make iPhone ringtones from my songs
Posted on March 16, 2010 under iPhone | 9 Comments
In another post, I detailed how you can get an iPhone ringtone from any song for free (as long as it’s available on Youtube.com) with the tube2tone.com service. Well, now that I upgraded my mobile to 3.1.3 (finally), I thought of finding other ways to get ringtones. And I found the easiest way to make iPhone ringtones from my songs – the ones already in the iTunes library. The best part… no additional software is needed and the process takes less than a minute.

Use Windstream email on Windows 7 – Windows Live Mail
Posted on March 16, 2010 under ISP, Windows 7, Windows Live Mail | 1 Comment
Because of the inadequate space available on the email accounts (just 50MB, at the time of writing), it is a good idea set up the Windstream email on your Windows 7 computer using the free Windows Live Mail program. Once this is done, you don’t need to delete messages to recover space or worry about exceeding the allotted quota, assuming there is enough free space available on your computer’s hard disk.
