When I start the Apache server it’s giving me an error that C:/PHP/php5apache2_2.dll not found. Can you help me with it?
Ehtesham
After configuration with Apache, a not-so-uncommon error thrown by Apache is “Cannot load php5apache2_2.dll“. This typically means that the web server is not able to locate the php5apache2_2.dll file. More »
Requested Operation Failed! Apache error
Posted on December 15, 2010 under Answers, Web Development | 5 Comments
I followed your instructions on how to install Apache and they worked fine. The server started without problem. Then I installed PHP and restarted Apache. It gave the “Requested Operation Failed” error. Any ideas? Thanks for the work you did.
Greg
A ‘Requested Operation Failed’ error from Apache generally means something is wrong with the configuration file – httpd.conf. It may also result because another program is using port 80. More »
JavaScript email
Posted on November 30, 2010 under Answers, Internet Tips | Leave a comment
I have started to learn JavaScript about a week back so I’m just a beginner. A pressing objective is to create a form on a website through which visitors can send an email. How can I use JavaScript to send an email from a website?
Stan
JavaScript is primarily a client-side language, which means it runs on the web browser program. However, to email visitor feedback from a web site form you need to take the help of a script that’s executed on the server. Thus, there is no way client-side JavaScript can be used on its own to send email via a form on a web site! Technically, email is sent from the server and not from a client. More »
Cost of Outlook email program

I had used Outlook for many years on my previous computer. This program is not installed on my new Windows 7 computers. When I took it back to the store the sales person told me that Outlook is not free… though I don’t remember ever paying for it. So how much does Outlook cost? And where can I get it?
Andre Tremblay
Sorry to be the bearer of not-so-good-news… Outlook is not free and it’s not available by default on the Windows 7 operating system. And now the good news… More »

I think I made a mistake when adding contacts in the Windows Live Mail program. I now need to empty my contacts list and start over and don’t want to do it one at a time. How can I delete all contacts at once?
Kim Bowman
It’s easy to delete all the Windows Live Mail contacts information in one go and will take you less than a minute. However, please note that this information is also used by Hotmail, Live Messenger and other Windows Live services you might have. More »
Why is the Advanced tab missing from email account properties?
Posted on November 8, 2010 under Answers, Hotmail | Leave a comment
I was following your instructions on how to keep a copy of email on the server but I find the ‘Advanced’ tab missing. Can you help me?
William
This post addresses the concern of Windows Live Hotmail users who find the Advanced tab missing from the account properties when they set up the email in the default Windows client.
By default, a Hotmail account is configured on free Microsoft email programs – Outlook Express, Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail – using the DeltaSynch (previously, DAV) email protocol which ensures that the online account is kept synchronized with the one on your computer. The ‘Advanced’ tab is missing for the Hotmail account set up on Windows Live Mail because it is not required. To get this functionality and leave a copy of the message on the server you need to use POP (Post Office Protocol).

Hotmail account sends Viagra email – how to stop
Posted on November 8, 2010 under Answers, Hotmail | Leave a comment
My contacts are telling me that my Hotmail account is sending them a Viagra email. I’ve changed the Hotmail password but the problem persists. How can I stop this?
Cherie
It looks like your Hotmail account has been compromised in the past. The spammer stole the email addresses of your contacts; and that’s the reason they are receiving Viagra email messages from you. It’s also possible that you are all victims of a spoof.

Change username – Is it possible?
Posted on October 30, 2010 under Answers, Internet Tips | Leave a comment
I’m fairly new to the Internet and still learning the ropes. I created a new account and in my hurry forgot to double check the username. It now has a wrong spelling of my name. Is it possible to change my username? If not, what is the best solution to my predicament?
Katerina Mertikas
A username of an online account can only be changed if it’s allowed by the service. In the case of email, for instance, the username determines the email address and hence, most service providers do not give an option to subscribers to change the username. And rightly so, else people would be modifying their email addresses at every whim. But that does not mean you cannot change an email address… you can!

Hotmail Plus – How many emails can I send?
Posted on October 22, 2010 under Answers, Email, Hotmail | Leave a comment
What can I do to raise the limit of how many emails I send per day from Hotmail account? My main categorized email list is 100 persons – this limits me to 3 emails per day, right? Will the paid account (Hotmail Plus) allow me to send unlimited email in a day? Thank you,
Dianne Glenney
The Hotmail email sending limit (free accounts) is 300 messages in a day. Upgrading to Hotmail Plus will “probably” increase the number of emails you can send daily. However, the service refrains from providing a concrete figure – check out Rosalie R (Hotmail staff) reply on the Windows Live Solutions Center web site; direct link to Hotmail sending limit – screenshot below.
