Blog converter - switch between Blogspot, WordPress, LiveJournal and MovableType

Google has released Python libraries and scripts that can convert across different blog formats like Blogspot (Blogger), WordPress, LiveJournal and MovableType. The blog converters, actually there are several, allow you to move your blog posts and comments quickly and without difficulty.

This is an Open Source Project and "includes templates for hosting the conversions on Google App Engine". Various converters are available to switch from one blog format to another. For example, the wordpress2blogger will move the blog from Wordpress to Blogger and blogger2wordpress will work vice-versa.

You need Python installed on your system and the scripts can be executed via a Windows match script, the command line or hosted on Google App Engine.

The whole set of scripts is a small 2.7Mb download available from Google Code web site.

So if you ever wanted to convert your blog from one format to another, you can now do it quickly. Note: the product was released a week back (9th January 2009) and certain features might still need a little fixing. If you face problems, you can always check out the discussion group.
